Bellah App Development

Bellah App Development LLC

Custom software, sharper data, and clearer decisions.

I partner with businesses to build the applications they need, make sense of the data they already have, and strengthen the strategy and people behind both.

Services

Custom Application Development

Web and internal applications built around how your business actually works, from first prototype through production and support.

Replacing subscription software (SaaS) that doesn't quite fit?

I've built and maintained a subscription software product myself, and I've watched them evolve: one client wants this feature, another wants that one, and the result is a generic tool that delivers the minimum for everyone but fits no one well. Your software should support how you run your business, not the other way around. I'll work closely with your team to build a custom replacement that fits how you actually work. When it's ready, cancel your subscription and redirect that fee to me, better software and better service, for what you're already paying.

Running critical processes on spreadsheets or email chains?

I build internal applications that integrate with your existing security and cloud infrastructure, so you stop chasing the current version of a file and start controlling exactly who can access what.

Data Analysis & Business Intelligence

Turning scattered spreadsheets and systems into dashboards and reports your team can trust and act on.

Reports that communicate at a glance

I taught data analysis and business intelligence to graduate students at the University of Oklahoma, built around one idea: a picture is worth a thousand words. A well-built report communicates multiple insights visually, without making anyone read a table of numbers. I connect your disconnected systems, build the underlying data model, and design reports in tools like Power BI and Tableau that surface what matters, then automate the process so it keeps running with little upkeep on your end.

Management & Technology Consulting

Practical guidance on strategy, culture, and technology, from setting a clear vision and aligning teams around it to selecting the right tools and improving how work gets done.

Strategic planning

I lead executive teams through three questions: Who are we? Where are we going? How will we get there? Each one runs deep, and the answers shape the next. The result is a plan that directs your resources to where they matter most in a competitive market.

Operational improvement

An in-depth look at your people and processes, resulting in practical recommendations for getting more done without wasting resources.

Project leadership

For one-time projects your team doesn't have the bandwidth to manage, I plan the budget and schedule, run a thorough risk analysis, and lead execution, with regular progress reports so leadership stays informed and nothing falls through the cracks.

Software and vendor selection

I evaluate your needs, identify the right vendors, and lead the interview and selection process, so the decision holds up long after the sales pitch ends.

Professional & Executive Education

Workshops and training in leadership, management, and project management, alongside technical and data fluency, drawn from years of university teaching and hands-on people leadership.

Sixteen years in the classroom

I spent 16 years as a university professor, teaching undergraduate, graduate, and executive courses at three universities in an interactive style built on discussion, not lecture.

Training works better close to the work

At a 24-location retail company, I taught Principles of Management to managers, assistant managers, and team leads in small groups of 4 to 10, meeting in local bank conference rooms every two weeks since the stores had no room to spare. The scheduling was a puzzle, but the results weren't: it did more for culture and strategic alignment than any other initiative we ran.

What I teach

Management, leadership, and strategy; project management; operations management, from supply chain to quality control; and technical topics like application development, databases, data analysis, and applied AI, tailored to the audience, from entry-level staff to executives.

Process

Every project follows an Agile process, short iterations, regular check-ins, and working software early, so you see progress continuously and can course-correct before rework piles up. Pairing that process with low-code platforms and AI-assisted development lets me move at the speed of a seasoned development team, without the overhead of one.

Agile Delivery

Short iterations and regular check-ins keep every project visible and adjustable, so surprises get caught early instead of at launch.

Learn more

Why Agile works

Traditional software processes tried to identify and design every detail upfront, before anything was built. Agile methods, which emerged in the early 2000s to fix that, still nail down the main objectives early, but let the details evolve through development instead of guessing at them in advance.

What this looks like in practice

We agree on the main objectives up front. I start building working software immediately, focusing on the most important pieces first, and you get to use it and give feedback right away. I fold that feedback into what's already built while adding new functionality, meeting at regular intervals, usually weekly or biweekly. The result is the best end product with the least rework.

Low-Code

Modern low-code platforms let me focus on your data model and business logic while the tooling handles the interface, hosting, and security behind the scenes.

Learn more

Ten times faster, by design

Modern low-code tools, like Tableau, Mendix, and the Microsoft Power Platform, let me focus on the data model and business logic instead of hand-coding the interface. That's roughly a 10x speedup over building the same solution from scratch.

Hosting and security, handled

These tools are cloud-based, so there's no server for me to configure. Having managed database and web servers myself, I know how much diligence patching and securing them takes. It still happens, it's just handled behind the scenes instead of on my to-do list.

AI-Accelerated

AI-assisted development multiplies output further still, built on the judgment to know what correct code looks like and verify every increment.

Learn more

Speed with judgment

AI tools are powerful, but they still need direction and review, the same way they do if you ask one to help write something you're capable of writing yourself. Because I've built software from scratch, I know what correct looks like and can verify what the AI produces before it ships.

A thousand times faster

Low-code gets me to about 10x. AI tools push that closer to 1000x: software increments that used to take days now take minutes, like directing a team of developers who do exactly what I tell them. The development environment and deployment pipeline still have to be set up right, but once they are, the process is smooth.

AI writes the code, not the software

AI helps me write the code, but it has no role in running it. The code goes through my repository like anything else I write, and the web server and database run it exactly as they always have.
